BEST BLUES BAND
The Lionel Young Band
Lionel Young, a classically trained player and respected composer who often performs
with the Denver Chamber Orchestra, is best known for his fascinating blues violin
work. He just completed his first recording, so his music, as well as his new
lineup, will soon reach a larger audience. Longtime drummer Tony Black is still
playing with Young, but the band features new faces, including saxophonist Chris
Strain, keyboardist Ricardo Peña, who relocated to Denver from Mexico
City last year, and Mal Brown and Billy Rich, who alternate bass duties. Together
the band plays some of the most invigorating and innovative music heard in Denver's
blues community. |
